This Howard Miller memorial chest features a sophisticated Oak Yorkshire finish on select hardwoods and veneers, highlighted by a high-gloss sheen and a contrasting inlaid burl on the top. The interior is luxuriously velvet-lined and secured by brass hinges, brass feet, and a brass-finished key with a decorative tassel. With a generous 275 cubic inch capacity, this memorial urn is designed to fit the 800-135 urn insert, providing a beautiful and lasting tribute.

How do I know if this urn is the right size?
A standard adult urn is typically designed to hold approximately 200 cubic inches of cremated remains. A common guideline is 1 cubic inch of capacity for every 1 pound of body weight before cremation. For example, someone who weighed 170 pounds would generally need an urn with at least 170 cubic inches of capacity. When in doubt, it is best to choose an urn with a little extra room.
Can I provide my own urn to a funeral home?
Yes. You are allowed to choose the urn that feels right for your family, whether it is purchased from a funeral home or another trusted provider. Federal consumer protections under the FTC Funeral Rule state that funeral homes cannot refuse an urn purchased elsewhere or charge an added handling fee for accepting it. Funeral directors regularly help families with outside urns, so we recommend coordinating delivery timing with them in advance.
Can this urn be buried in a cemetery?
Many urns can be buried, but cemetery rules vary. Some cemeteries require an urn vault, specific materials, or certain dimensions before burial. Before purchasing for cemetery placement, we recommend contacting the cemetery or funeral director to confirm their requirements.
Can ashes be divided among family members?
Yes. Many families divide cremated remains among siblings, children, or other loved ones and each person often chooses the urn style they prefer for various reasons - whether for symbolic, design, or personal reasons. Funeral homes can often divide the ashes into separate labeled containers before you take them home.
Can I travel with this urn?
Cremated remains can generally be brought through TSA in carry-on or checked baggage, but the urn must be able to pass X-ray screening. Dense materials such as metal, marble, stone, or thick ceramic may be harder for TSA to screen. If you plan to fly with ashes, check the airline’s policy, keep the cremation certificate with you, and consider using a temporary travel-friendly container if needed.

How long will it take to get my order?
We process and ship orders within 24 hours and same-day before 12PM on weekdays. For most metropolitan areas, you can expect your delivery within 3–5 business days. Need it sooner? We offer expedited shipping options at checkout.
Please note that custom engraving plates cannot ship immediately as they must be engraved. To avoid delays, we ship your urn first, and the plate will arrive 1-2 weeks later.
